January is the month for new year resolutions and fresh starts. February is the month for short dark days and feeling bad about breaking resolutions. March is the month for getting excited about spring – and then being bitterly disappointed when it starts to snow again. But April? Well, April is all about weekend getaways!
I think that I have possibly spent weeks of my life sitting surrounded by a pile of magazines, armed with a pair of scissors, and cutting out all of the images, articles and words that inspired me and made me want, well, more for my life.More freedom, more excitement, more adventures. A life less ordinary.
When the clock struck midnight for Cinderella, she had to run back to her old life.Luckily for us, as modern day women we get to write our own stories – and our own endings. This means that on 1st January (or at any time of the year, for that matter!) we can decide exactly how we want the next 12 months of our life to look by setting our intentions and making New Year’s resolutions.
As children, we get told stories of princesses, castles and dragons; of witches, magic and spells; of bogeymen, ghosts and monsters. We learn from nursery rhymes that little girls are made of “sugar and spice, and all things nice”, and from fairy tales that we should be “good” and the perfect “homemaker”.
